Each month, Muslims of Long Island comes together with one simple mission: to ensure that no family in our community goes hungry. Through the generosity of our supporters and community partners, hundreds of freshly prepared halal meals are distributed to individuals and families facing food insecurity throughout Long Island.
This monthly food distribution took place in Brentwood, New York, where volunteers gathered to provide warm, nutritious meals to local residents and families in need. The event was made possible through the incredible generosity of Mela Restaurant / La Estación, which prepared and gave discounts on delicious, freshly cooked halal meals. Each meal included fragrant basmati rice and a flavorful butter chicken entrée, carefully packaged to provide families with a hot, wholesome, and dignified meal.
Stacks of freshly prepared meals filled the distribution tables as volunteers worked together to organize and hand them out with warmth, compassion, and a smile. For many recipients, these meals represent more than just food they are a reminder that their community cares and that they are not alone during difficult times.
Over 100 meals were distributed on Saturday, June 27th!
Over the years, Muslims of Long Island has distributed more than 25,000 hot meals to individuals and families in need, with monthly food distributions continuing to serve hundreds of people across the region. Every meal served is a testament to the generosity of donors, volunteers, and community partners who believe that no one should have to worry about where their next meal will come from.
As the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
“He is not a believer whose stomach is filled while his neighbor goes hungry.” (Al-Adab Al-Mufrad)
Muslims of Long Island extends its heartfelt gratitude to Mela Restaurant / La Estación, every volunteer who dedicated their time, and every donor whose support makes these monthly food distributions possible.
Together, we are nourishing our neighbors, strengthening our community, and making a difference one meal at a time, right here in Brentwood and across Long Island.

Boxes, utensils, water etc…all donated at no cost to MOLI
